Not long back in Beano, there was a Bash Street Kids strip, and Mr. Sutherland was too busy to make changes. I tried to step in on this to help out, but sometimes I just make more work for myself.
The top is the script/thumbnail for the strip as originally given to David. The second tier was his drawing, but they wanted to change two characters dancing together. I based my efforts on what David had drawn, but they wanted the replacements dancing as seen in the original thumbnail.
When I do this sort of stuff, I try to keep as close to what David has done as I can. If it’s something on a larger scale, I still try to mimic David’s style, so the change doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb; I hope it worked.
