Jones apparently had a list of rules for the Road Runner cartoon, about where/how/what stuff could happen to Coyote. If I remember correctly, one was the Road Runner couldn’t do anything to harm the Coyote, all injuries to Wile had to be his own fault; but occasionally they seemed to bend things a bit. In both “Hip Hip Hurry!”, and this shot from “Hot-Rod and Reel”, the Runner does/tries to trip Coyote. That said, what’s the point of rules if you don’t break em?
