Little heavy on the eye liner, huh sister?

The ladies in the Tex Avery MGM cartoon “Batty Baseball” look based on “Red” animated by Preston Blair – but they did have insanely thick eyeliner. I scaled it back here, but even then it looks seriously thick. Wonder what was up with that?
