Bruce Lee said something like that, and practice does make perfect… or at least gets you closer to it. Drawing, like the martial arts, is a perishable skill. That’s why I do so many of these “Non-Life Drawings” as I can. It’s a poor substitute to working from a model, but that’s not always possible, so this is the next best thing.
