I mentioned before that I’ve been drawing from a lot of Japanese publications, since I can’t go to life drawing sessions due to the pandemic. When I see stuff online from old magazines, I’ll grab em. This little girl is from an ad for books (I’m guessing) that tie-in to kid shows, like Ultraman.
Kid faces have different proportions, where the features are usually bunched up in the lower half of the face. When you center them, it makes them look more like an adult. Usually it’s not a problem, but because she’s pretending to scream (and in the pic she almost looks like she’s smiling), it elongated her face, making it seem like her features were centered; thus making her look older. I’m not entirely happy with how this ended up, but it was a fun challenge.
