The Beano Boss kids are always a challenge. You want to make the kid look like who they are, which requires exaggeration of some features, but you don’t want  them to feel like they’re being ridiculed. Case in point, this young lady had some wild hair, which was fun to draw, but I hope she doesn’t think I was making fun of it.

This is one of three standard Beano Boss poses that they use in the book, the “point”.  I was happy with how it turned out, mostly for her stance; which isn’t as stiff as some others I’ve done.

I also only noticed today that I tend to draw teeth like Paul Coker. For those who don’t know, he worked on a lot of the old Rankin/Bass cel animated shows- ala Frosty the Snowman, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, etc. He had/has a wonderful sense of character design. I guess we are just a sum of our influences.
