This was a 20 min. sketch and at first I was eager to draw this model, for in her gesture warm ups, apse actually went into fighting poses. She also had long hair, which she didn’t put in a pony tail (something a lot of models do). I like the practice of drawing hair, and especially if they use it like a prop, either to indicate modesty, pretending to comb/wash it,  or letting it lay out like a blanket on the floor in a reclining pose, etc…

Usually I don’t say anything about a model, but when she started to do longer poses, she was all over the place. She didn’t just “drift”, which is what I call it when a model settles slowly into a pose. The position slightly changes, but it’s natural to let muscles relax, letting the weight fall onto the frame of the body; but she did whatever she felt like doing. It was the amateur level you’d get from conning a boy/girl-friend,  into posing for you; where they kick their legs, fidget, check their phone, play with their hair… that’s what she did. At first I thought she was just getting cramp, which my heart goes out on. Modeling is not easy, I get it. It’s difficult to be nude in front of strangers, having to come up with poses one can maintain (not to mention that are interesting to draw), you’re cold, your muscles ache, etc. … so I try to give a lot of lead in terms of expectations, but this was a bit much for a professional. I finally called it a night when she answered her phone for a text, giggled, and then cut a pose short, so she could go answer the phone.
