I started out on Beano a couple years back doing Tricky, and the editor reader/boss strips. I had a hard time trying to get a grasp of how to handle the guest star kids; honestly I still fight with it. It’s a juggling act between making it look like them, making them look like part of the Beano world, and trying to not make it look like a fair grounds portrait.

This week’s strip had an added challenge of repeating a scene, so to accommodate that I tried to reuse the base image of Mr. Throbb and the school entrance. To do that I had to draw them separately from the Beano Boss.

To see how this all worked out, come back later in the week.
