The Looney Tunes with the three bears were always a love hate for me as a kid. I enjoyed them, but I always felt the Dad was a bit mean. I get it, it’s his role, but it went a bit far sometimes. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to enjoy the absurdity of them, and especially the Dad’s “takes” in a lot of scenes. These are from “What’s Brewin’ Bruin” (1948). The final shot when the Dad opens the window as spring arrives is brilliant; oh, that face! The hammer poses are random stills during his flurry of movement while nailing up a window. Again, watching these things in slow motion is something every cartoonist should do.
